The Delhi NCR Transport Strike is being held against policies of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), courts, and the Delhi government, which transporters call “anti-transporter”.

Main Demands of Transporters

  • Withdrawal of increased Environmental Compensation Charge (ECC) on goods vehicles
  • Complete exemption for BS-VI vehicles from ECC
  • Exemption for vehicles carrying essential commodities
  • Rollback of proposed ban on BS-IV commercial vehicles from November 2026

AIMTC National President Harish Sabharwal warned that around 95 lakh truck drivers and over 20 crore people dependent on the transport sector are affected. A key meeting was held in Faridabad on May 15, where unions decided to go ahead with the strike.

Possible Impact of Delhi NCR Transport Strike

The three-day strike may severely affect the supply of essential goods like milk, fruits, vegetables, and medicines in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. Heavy vehicle movement on major roads and border points is likely to be disrupted, causing traffic chaos across the NCR.

Transporters have also warned of a possible indefinite strike in the future if their demands are not met.

This Delhi NCR Transport Strike comes at a time when fuel prices have already been hiked recently, adding to the financial burden on the transport industry.
