The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has delivered a ₹1,400 crore offer related to civil construction activities which are being undertaken for Phase 2 of the Gurugram Metro project to the state government of Haryana for the necessary administrative go-ahead.
The tender has already been validated by the World Bank in June and is approved by GMRL and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC). Senior officials revealed that the state government’s nod is expected very soon which will help in getting the field work going.

What Comes Under The Civil Works Tender
The ₹1,400 crore contract involves structural execution works of the corridor:
What Comes Under It: The construction of the elevated railway track, viaducts and station boxes across the entire alignment.
What Is Not Covered: Signalling systems, electrical cabling, telecommunications, and specialized architecture designs will also be put up for procurement but independently.

Escalation of Cost and Financial Aid
The estimated expenditure for the entire Gurugram Metro project has surged sharply and has now increased from a first estimation from ₹5,452 crore to over ₹10,000 crore. To secure the additional funds, GMRL has approached its German development bank and has initiated discussions with them so as not to be dependent only.
